Lost Alfred Cortot Live Recording Found

An unpublished broadcast recording of Alfred Cortot playing Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto in F minor live on April 12, 1954, which briefly appeared online in early 2019 before being taken down, has recently resurfaced on the Back Blue Classics YouTube channel. An embedded player is provided below for listening.

Captured when Cortot was 76, his technique here is undeniably frail; the dropped notes are frequent and may be distracting for the casual listener. For the historical connoisseur, this recording is nevertheless a fascinating document of how his conception of the concerto evolved over two decades when compared to the 1944 recording with Mengelberg and 1935 recording with Barbirolli, also attached below. To quote Mark Ainley of The Piano Files, who posted about the initial discovery in 2019 on The Piano Files' Facebook Page:

The 76-year-old pianist's precision had waned significantly in preceding years but he's in pretty astounding form here, a memory lapse in the last movement and a few slips notwithstanding. We get to hear in wonderful sound quality Cortot's glorious soaring tone, elegantly sculpted phrasing (the shaping is absolutely delectable), his patented and utterly inimitable rubato, and incredible dynamic control (the pianissimo in the second movement is breathtaking).
